Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains what information Hangllo collects, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how long we keep it. Hangllo is a social app for meeting people through short conversations, small groups, and real-world events.
1. Information We Collect
- Account information: your phone number (used for sign-in via SMS code), email address, and date of birth (used once to confirm you are 18 or older).
- Profile information you choose to provide: display name, avatar, bio, city, and profile photos.
- Location: your city, and — only if you grant the permission — your precise GPS location, used to show nearby people and local groups. You can use the app without precise location.
- Verification data (optional feature): if you choose to verify your profile, you take two selfies. They are analyzed to confirm you are a real, live person and that you match your profile photos. The selfie images are deleted immediately after the check. A numeric face template (a set of numbers derived from your face — not an image, and not reversible into one) is kept to prevent banned users from creating duplicate accounts.
- Messages and activity: messages you send in chats and groups, topic invites you post, groups you join, and reports you make.
- Device information: a push notification token so we can deliver notifications to your device.
2. How We Use Information
- to run the app: matching, chats, groups, events, notifications;
- to keep the community safe: reviewing reports, enforcing our rules, preventing duplicate or ban-evading accounts;
- to communicate with you about the Service.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not show ads.
3. Who We Share Information With
We share information only with service providers that help us run the app, and only what they need for their job:
- Twilio — delivers your SMS sign-in codes;
- Cloudflare — stores uploaded photos;
- Google — powers venue/city search when you look up a place, and delivers push notifications on Android;
- Expo — routes push notifications to your device;
- Anthropic — when content is reported by a user, our moderation team may use an AI service to help review that reported content.
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our users and the Service.
4. How Long We Keep Information
- 1:1 chat messages: deleted 30 days after the chat ends. Ongoing chats are kept while they're active.
- Event group chats: deleted automatically about 24 hours after the event starts — event chats are meant to be in-the-moment.
- Notifications: deleted after 30 days.
- SMS sign-in codes: deleted within minutes.
- Verification selfies: deleted immediately after the check. The face template is deleted when your account is deleted or your verification is revoked.
- Everything else (profile, photos, account data) is kept while your account exists and permanently erased after account deletion (see below).
5. Deleting Your Account and Data
You can delete your account inside the app (Profile → Settings → Delete account). Your account is deactivated immediately and permanently erased after a 30-day recovery window — sign in during those 30 days if you change your mind. Full instructions: Account & data deletion. You can also email us at hangllosupport@gmail.com to request deletion.
6. Security
All traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted (HTTPS/WSS). Sign-in tokens are stored in your device's secure keystore and can be revoked server-side. No system can be guaranteed 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
7. Age Requirement
Hangllo is for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account, and this is enforced at sign-up. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
8. Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes, we will update this page and the date above. Continued use of the Service after changes means you accept the updated policy.
